Learning to Learn 1: Reading with Purpose

This is the first of three audio blog posts on Learning to Learn, by Dr. Kelly Dietz,  Assistant Professor, Department of Politics at Ithaca College. In this segment, Kelly questions the assumptions we make about how our students learn and offers an example of an experiential learning exercise she uses in class to examine how to read with purpose. The exercise reveals to students why reading with purpose matters, as well as how one’s perspective and experience shape one’s interpretations.
